The Smells of Star

The Smell of Stars is a womenswear collection inspired by the imagined scent of stars, rooted in my childhood reading of The Little Prince. Through research, I discovered descriptions of the smell of space—notes of gunpowder, ozone, burning metal, and welding fumes—and reinterpreted these invisible sensations into tactile experiences. To evoke the texture of scent, I experimented with burned fabrics, allowing heat to reshape materials organically, creating raw, uncontrolled surfaces. These were contrasted with smoky gray-white gradient sequins, delicate lace, and sculptural boning to capture both the explosive energy and ethereal shimmer of stars. One signature element is a rose lace detail, a poetic nod to the rose in The Little Prince, representing longing and emotional attachment. The silhouettes blend soft volume and structured lines, evoking celestial phenomena like star clusters and nebulae. This project merges personal memory, emotional curiosity, and material innovation, offering a sensory narrative that invites the viewer to imagine not only how stars look—but how they might feel, and even smell.
